ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT
SERVICE
In May of 2004, Fillmore
Fire Department began providing the citizens of the City
full time First Responder Paramedic Services. With
approval from the Ventura County EMS Agency and the
Board of Supervisors, Paramedic Squad 92 was placed into
service.
Currently,
Emergency Medical Services calls comprise over 85% of
all requests for service from the Fire Department. All
EMS responses include Fillmore Fire Paramedics and
EMT’s, along with American Medical Response, the
contracted Paramedic Ambulance Service. AMR Medic 422 is
also housed with Fillmore Fire at our Fire Station.
Paramedic
Squad 92 is staffed 24 hours a day by a Ventura County
Accredited Level 2 Paramedic. All Officers are certified
as ALS Assist EMT’s, allowing them to complete a
functional Advanced Life Support unit. If necessary,
additional Paramedic personnel may be placed on our
front line Engine to create Medic Engine 91. This
includes “strike teams” that are teamed with other
county agencies for deployment to brush fires throughout
the State.
All of our
Paramedic apparatus are equipped with state of the art
medical equipment and are capable of providing a variety
of care including defibrillation, advanced airway
management and medication administration.
All aspects
of the Paramedic Program are under the direction of Pete
Egedi, Fire Chief. Other administrators responsible for
the program include Firefighter-Paramedic Jim Hall,
Paramedic Coordinator and Susan Scott RN, CQI
coordinator. Captain Royce Davis Jr. serves as the
Department’s EMS Captain. Fillmore Fire also provides
the EMS responders Continuing Education on a monthly
basis.
Fillmore Fire
Department is committed to giving the citizens of our
City the best in pre-hospital care and consider it an
honor to do so.
